Filters

If you want to choose a filter for IR photography, you should know that the offer is quite extensive in this area. Perhaps, the best thing is to focus on the fact how each filter influences the “coloring” of the resultant image rather than on processing or make – i.e. on the wavelength of the filter. It is not so easy to specify this at first sight in the case of some manufacturers. Heliopan filters are probably identified best because their designation – e.g. RG715 conforms to the wavelength of transmitted light. If it is identified as RG715, you know that it transmits a large portion of IR light from 715nm. This means that all visible light in this case will be filtered off and only infrared luminous spectrum will get to the digital camera sensor.
