#1 Please, introduce yourself.

Hi, I am an amateur photographer based in the UK. I started my hobby in January 2008 with a Nikon D40X and have been learning ever since. I got introduced to IR photography in the summer 2009 and have now two converted DSLR's one with a 720nm filter and one with a 830nm.

#2 What are you doing?

Still learning!

#3 Whats your favorite activity except photography??

I am a member of the 501st Legion, a worldwide Star Wars Costuming Club that attends Sci-Fi events dressed as Star Wars Characters to raise money for charities, I have a movie quality replica suit of Dart Vader, my SL number is SL1877.

#4 How did you get interested in photography?

I have always been interested in photography but decided to have a go when the cost of DSLR's fell to a level to enable be to dip my toes in.

#5 What do you like to photograph?

Landscapes are my favourite but will try anything and in fact intend to try everything.

#6 How you can describe your attitude for (infrared) photography?

Since most of my work was leaning towards bw landscapes it meant the summer was a bleak uninspiring time for my newly acquired addiction, My father, another photographer of over 20 years, showed my his converted D70 and the results inspired me to get one converted, now summer only enhances my photography enabling me to go out and take pictures that would just be snap shots if taken with a regular light camera, bw IR is brilliant!

#7 What does photography mean to you?

It's my hobby, and I enjoy it.

#8 Why you have photograph in infrared?

BW is amazing in IR, it brings out so much more detail even in things that don't exhibit the ‚wood‘ effect such as my ‚Sandcastles in Le Touquet‘ photo.

#9 Where you has been searching for inspiration?

My father provides a lot of inspiration but other than that I read a lot of forums and look at others work.

#10 Do you remember your first IR shot?

My first outing with the converted D70 was a trip to Brean Beach in the UK, there was a very old shipwreck called the SS Nornan, it was quite exciting as the seaweed on the boat was glowing on the back of the camera even though it was black in reality, this showed me what sort photographs I was going to be able to produce, also I nearly got trapped in quick sand!!

#11 Are you publishing your photos (in magazine, web etc.)?

No not yet, allthough I am on a few website forums, plus there is my personal website.

#12 Have you ever won some price?

No I have entered some FIAP international exhibitions and been accepted but I havent won anything… yet ;o)

#13 Could you reveal us something about gear?

I use a converted Nikon D70 & 720nm filter and because I got hooked I also have a converted Nikon D200 & 830mn filter, I went for the 830nm filter on the second body as I prefer bw, I seem to work much easier with it.

#14 Could you reveal us something about your techniques (post-process, shooting etc.)?

I use Photoshop for editing and Lightroom for organising, printing and web uploading plus very basic adjustments.
